FAQ & Rental Information
We want to ensure that our guests have all the information they need while staying with us. We have compiled a list of questions frequently asked by our past customers along with their answers and our general policies. Do you only rent by the week?
We prefer to rent by the week during the summer months but will rent the cottages with a 3-day minimum if there is availability.
Do you have Wi-fi or TV?
We do not provide wi-fi or cable TV. If you need to connect to wi-fi, there are many businesses in Grand Marais where you may connect to Wi-fi, as well as the Grand Marais Public Library that is two blocks away. We do provide a TV monitor in each cabin with a DVD player.
How do I confirm my stay and what if I need to cancel?
We ask for guests to send a check payable to Russell's Cottages to confirm their reservation. You will receive an email that we have received your check. We will not deposit the check until your arrival. If you need to cancel, please contact us by email as soon as you can and we will return your check.
What is provided in each cabin?
All of our cabins come equipped with a fully functional kitchen that includes an electric stove, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker. Even though the kitchen in the Loft apartment is smaller, it offers the same amenities. We provide bed linens, towels, and essential items such as coffee filters, dish soap, paper towels, and toilet paper to make your stay comfortable. If you need more supplies, we suggest that you bring them along. However, there are three grocery stores nearby in Grand Marais for your convenience. Every cabin has electric heat and a box fan, and the Log cabin features a gas fireplace. Cabins #1 and #2 have gas grills on their decks while the Log cabin and the Loft apartment have access to a gas grill located near the main house.
Can I bring my dog?
We do allow guests to bring one dog, but we require approval beforehand. There is an additional charge of $25 per day or $175 per week for your pet's stay. To ensure a pleasant experience for all our guests, we kindly request that your dog is not left alone in the cabin.
What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in time is 3 p.m. and check-out time is 11 a.m. Please let us know if you need to adjust your arrival or departure time. If you will be arriving after dark, please let us know and we will turn the lights on for you.
What is the check-in procedure?
Upon arrival, park in your designated spot and move in. No need to register or check in; your unlocked cabin holds the key. Please leave keys inside cabin at checkout.
What is the maximum number of individuals that can sleep in each cabin?
Each cabin sleeps 4 people max and the Loft apartment sleeps 2. We do not provide roll-away beds.
Do you have a firepit available?
We do not have a firepit available.
Do your cabins have fireplaces?
The Log cabin is the only cabin that has a gas fireplace.
Are tents or RVs allowed on the property?
No, sorry.
